Liturgical ArtLiturgical art is art in the service of worship. It is art that encourages people to enter into the act of worship and participate fully in worship. This is the mark of good liturgical art. Liturgical art may serve the function of creating a worshipful atmosphere; informing a worship participant about the topic, theme, or mood of the day; focusing attention on a specific act of worship; or any combination of the above. In developing liturgical art, one must know and understand the worship practices of a congregation. Bryan Schneider-Thomas has worked with congregation in producing finished artwork, designs that a congregation has finished, and workshops to teach the skills and concepts of liturgical art to members of a congregation. Bryan's liturgical art journey began in quilting and embroidery. To this he has added skills in weaving, spinning, and other fiber techniques. Currently his interests focus on dying and paper making. Through his work in liturgical design consulting, he has also begun designing liturgical furnishing, partnering with congregation members or woodworking professionals to develop the final piece.
